The majority of the names found in this alphabetical listing are performers who appeared on Wayside’s stage.  Often, the date the name appeared along with any variation in the spelling is included. A short bio follows the name when information was available.

David Aaron (1975, 1976) Performed in You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, Off-Broadway, the New York Shakespeare Festival, a national tour of Roar of the Greasepaint, and a USO tour of Europe.

Alexandra Adams (2002, 2004) Attended John Handley High School, appeared in Shenandoah Summer Music Theatre productions, and attended the Summer Regional Governor’s School for Drama.  

Jacob Adams (2009) A student at Admiral Byrd Middle School, he attended Wayside Theatre’s Acting Camp, and was in the cast of the Christmas show.

Jake Adams (2011) A student at Admiral Byrd Middle School who likes playing football and performing improv comedy.

Tom Ager (1985)

Elizabeth Albert (Also listed as Liz Albert) (1995, 1996, 1999, 2004--2007) First appeared at Wayside while a student at Shenandoah Conservatory and expanded her roles from a fiddler in Christmas Carol to an actress in several productions.  

Dorothy Albright (1965, 1966)

Bill Alderson (1964, 1965, 1967) Graduated from Sacramento State College and studied in NYC with Sanford Meisner and Philip Burton’s Professional Shakespeare Class in NYC.  Has performed on TV, and on Broadway in Andromaque.

Christine Albright (2001)

John Alcott (1999, 2000--2002, 2004, 2009) A Chicago based actor who appeared in many Wayside productions; also appeared at Apple Tree Theatre, at Pegasus Players, with Buffalo Theatre Ensemble, and Raven Theatre.  He is the recipient of Chicago’s prestigious Joseph Jefferson Award for his work in The Kentucky Cycle.

Marilyn Allen (197j, 1977, 1978?) Began acting at an early age; played Corie in Barefoot in the Park starring Yvonne De Carlo.  

Sue Allen (1978)

Patti Allison (1975, 1976, 1978, 1979) Has over thirty operatic roles to her credit in major opera houses from Zurich to San Francisco, as well as club gigs such as the Blue Room in New Orleans and the Playboy Club in Chicago.  Did a national tour of Student Prince, has performed in many television commercials, including Jewel Foods, Weight Watchers and Sunoco.

Ed Alton (1981 - 1983) A graduate of the Pacific Conservatory of Performing Arts and was in charge of the Cabaret Series for Wayside’s 1982 season. During the academic year, he works for a private boys’ school in Virginia

Anita Anderson (1998) A graduate of Boston University and a teacher at Manhattan School of Music.  She made her Carnegie Hall debut in 1995, and has performed widely.  

Barbara Anderson (1991)

Denman Anderson (2002) A graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi in acting and technical theatre.  Prior to working at Wayside, he worked as a sound engineer for Theatre West Virginia.  

Eliselle Anderson (1995, 1996)

Frank Anderson (1990, 1991) Has been seen on TV in Law and Order, some day-time dramas, and commercials.  Appeared on Broadway in The Iceman Cometh and has several off-Broadway credits in regional theatres.

Leigh Anderson (1996) A recent graduate of Swarthmore College who worked on costumes and sets for this season.  She plans to study with the Ecole Jacques LeCoq in Paris at the end of the season. 

Mary Carolyn Anderson (1964)

Stanley Anderson (1976) Has had leading roles for the past four seasons at Arena Stage; has performed in stock companies, and appeared on TV and in film.

Steve Anderson (Or is it Andersen??) (1982)

Tanya Anderson (1994) Attended New York University where she studied theatre and dance, and appeared in a variety of musical productions.

Cory Andreen (1996) A student at Robert E. Aylor school where he has appeared in school productions.  

Steven Andresen (1982) A New York actor who worked in regional theatres on both coasts.

Debra Andrew (1979)

Jim Anzide (1989) A student at James Madison University where he appeared in several student productions.

Bev Appleton (1994, 2001--2003) Has performed with the Blue Ridge Theatre Festival and appeared in regional theatres from New York to Virginia, as well as in television.  He is in charge of Harrisonburg’s Court Square Theatre; and directed and performed in various Wayside productions.

J. T. Arbogast (2004, 2006) Holds a degree from the University of Texas-Auston where he performed in several school productions as well as in New York and DC, including the National Comedy Theatre.  

Jefferson Arca (2000--2002) Based in NYC, and has worked at the Riverside Stage, Theatre Nada, Mill Mountain Theatre, the Human Race Theatre in Ohio, and the Cincinnati Shakespeare Festival.  For a time, he lived In the Netherlands and appeared in a Dutch sit-com.

Debbie Ardery (1966)

Johnny Armen (1969, 1970) A graduate of Fordham University and studied acting with Lee Strasberg.  Appeared on Broadway in 1968 in Lovers & Other Strangers.  Performed in Troilus & Cressida at Princeton’s McCarter Theatre and The Fantasticks with a Boston repertory company.  

Jordan Armel (2011) Attends Gainsboro Elementary School and participates in Wayside’s YPF classes.

Natashya Armer (1989) A recent graduate from John Handley High School, Winchester, he worked as an apprentice at Shenandoah Summer Music Theatre appearing in Evita and Grease,  

Victor Arnold (1979)

Jonathon Aronson (1976) Has appeared as a dancer in various theatres along the East coast, and has choreographed works such as Dames at Sea.  

David Artz (2004, 2008, 2012) Lives in the area and is a life-long performer on the pedal-steel guitar.

Steve Astra (1989, 1990) States he is happy to be back at Wayside working with one of his closest friends, Virginia Hoffman.

Clay Arthur (2004, 2006 - 2007, 2010) Has been involved with music since childhood and was heavily influenced by his father, Doug Arthur.  He was a financial planner who also performed with the acoustic duo, Exit 9, and with Johnny and the Vault Cats, a Rock-a-Billy band.

Doug Arthur (2003 - 2004, 2007) A Strasburg attorney who plays bass and guitar with various ensembles in the area.  He also served on Wayside’s Board of Directors.  

David Artz (2004, 2008, 2012) Pedal steel guitar musician.

Clinton J. Atkinson (1970) Has received New York kudos for his recent directing work.

Gene Babb (1964) A Winchester resident who was very active in Winchester’s Bark Mill Theatre. 

Laura Babb (1966) Appeared in Hansel & Gretel.

Jerry Baggot (1986 – 1988, 1990). Originally from Tomah, WI, he is a graduate of the Professional Theatre Training Program at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee; performed at the Oklahoma Shakespeare Festival, and with the Centerstage Saturday youth theatre program.  He assisted with Wayside’s 1988 renovation project.

Don Bryant Bailey (2002, 2003) A musician who appeared in various productions of Cotton Patch Gospel and Sanders Family productions.  He has performed at various theatres including Totem Pole Playhouse, Barter Theatre, Montana Repertory Theatre and others.

Jeff Baker (1995, 1997) Based in DC, he has performed with Washington Shakespeare Company and the American Century Theatre.  He received Capitol Region Emmy Awards for two of his TV performances.  

Lance Baker (1992) A graduate of Shenandoah University and worked in regional and touring theatre from Pennsylvania to Aruba.

Jack Balcer (1981) Professor of English at Shenandoah University with a keen interest in theatre, especially the works of Shakespeare.  

Matt Baldoni (also listed Matthew C. Baldoni) (2008--2011) Appeared on stage as well as served as the sound board operator.  He also acted in the Emerging Arts in Action performances.

Myah Bales (2009, 2010) Attends John Kerr Elementary School and participated in Wayside’s YPW program.

George Barnett (1964)

Bruce Barney (1987, 1988, 1994, 1996, 1998) Has performed at the North Shore Music Theatre, the Queen City Stage, St. Michael’s Playhouse, North Shore Music Theatre as well as Off-Broadway. He appeared in the film, Picture Perfect.  

Kathryn Barnhardt (1998) DC actress who performed at Washington Stage Guild, American Century Theatre, the Kennedy Center, and the Maryland Traveling Repertory Theatre.  

Lisa Barr (1983) An intern for the 1983 season from Lynchburg, VA, with plans to attend Webster College in St. Louis, MO.

Bruce Edward Barton (1993—1996, 1998) Worked at Mill Mountain Theatre, theatres in Texas, the Orlando Shakespeare Festivals, at Jean Cocteau Rep, Riverside Shakespeare, and Avalon Rep.  

Ted Batenstein (1978) From Warrenton, VA and was a Wayside apprentice for the 1978 season.

Barbara Bauer (also Boddé Bower) (1991, 1999) Spent a year performing at DC’s Shakespeare Theatre, studied with Walt Witcover in NYC, and was on the theatre faculty at Shenandoah Conservatory.  

Richard Bauer (1972) Began his career as a child actor in the Children’s Theatre of St. Louis.  He appeared regularly in a variety of roles on television and at DC’s Arena Stage.  A graduate of St. Louis University with a Masters from Catholic University, he and his wife, Halo Wines, toured the US and Canada as well as performed for the US military in Germany and Italy. 

Patrick Bauserman (2010--2012) Student at Daniel Morgan Middle School and enjoys piano, guitar, and swimming.

Thomas Bauserman (2010--2012) Student at Frederick Douglas Elementary and performed with Wayside’s YPW program. He enjoys playing piano, guitar and violin,  

Joseph Beal (1995, 1996) Came to Wayside fresh from the Off-Broadway production of Schoolhouse Rock Live! 

Jeff Beam (1993, 1995) Designed the sound for Amadeus, and also appeared in A Christmas Carol.  He is a piano tuner by trade.

Jocelyn Beam (1991, 1992) Born in Kenya and lived in various locations around the world due to her father’s work with the US Embassy.  Her early involvement with theatre came through participation with the International Schools Theatre Association.  

Katie Beam (1991) Born in Front Royal and lived in Paris, France for a number of years where she took part in school plays.  She attends Warren County Middle School.  

Reathel Bean (1970, 1973) Worked in Broadway and off-Broadway productions, including the original Big River.

Abigail Beaudoin (2008, 2009) Is home-schooled, appeared in two productions of A Christmas Carol, and participates in the Young Performer’s Playhouse.  

Adam Beckman (1976) A student at Franklin High School in NYC and studies acting.

Courtney Bell (2004) Worked at the Theatre at Lime Kiln and performed in the musical, Stonewall Country.  

Sylvia Beeken (2006) An active member of Winchester Little Theatre as a performer and as a member of the Board.

Dawn Behrens (2004) Brings a variety of experience in various theatres to Wayside’s 2004 season.  

Jayson Belew (2009) A graduate of Northwestern State University in Louisiana where he performed in school productions including Company and My Three Angels.

Richard Bennett (1991, 1992) After acting for many seasons at Winchester Little Theatre, he made his first professional theatre appearance during Wayside’s 1991 season.  He is a lawyer for the US Army Corps of Engineers.

Sarah Bennet (1980) Took part in the Christmas show

Barbara Berge (1979) Trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, and originated the role of Turner in Psy-Warriors in London.  She appeared in The Norman Conquests on Broadway.

Jill Stapleton Bergerson (2013) Has acted and directed in professional, educational, and community theatres, and works as a professional writer, photographer, musician, and educator.  

Ann Berlin (1967)

Drew Berman (2005, 2006) Has appeared in class plays at Powhatan School and participates in Wayside’s YPW. He is an avid soccer player.

Jennifer Berman (1990) A graduate of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and has appeared at the Portland Stage Company.

Susan Waters Berry (1983)

Leslie Bevan (1999, 2003) A native of Chicago and has appeared at Steppenwolf and Plan B Theatres.  She spent two seasons with Amsterdam’s improvisational theatre, Boom Chicago.

Richard Bey (1979) Graduate of the Yale School of Drama, has appeared at the Yale Repertory Theatre and the Marin Shakespeare Festival.  Off Broadway, he appeared in The Vienna Notes. 

Gloria Biddle (1970) a teacher at James Wood High School, Winchester.

Kaleo Bird (1995, 1996) A graduate of New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, she recently performed a monolog at the Church Street Theatre in DC.

Sally Birkhead (1972)

Joseph Bishara (also Joe Bishara) (2003, 2004) A graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University and performed in several regional productions.  At Wayside, he worked as a director, actor, and administrator

Ron Bishop (also, Ronald Bishop) (1974) Broadway credits include Othello and The Visit along with a performance of St. Joan at Lincoln Center; has performed in sixteen regional theatres across the country and spent a summer with the Stratford Shakespeare Festival.  

Terri Bishop (1976)

Cheryl Black (1986) A native of Dallas, she has performed with the Dallas Shakespeare Festival, Dallas Repertory Theatre and Stage West.  She is a graduate of the University of South Carolina and performed with the Charleston Opera Company and the Dock Street Theatre; and has appeared on TV, in PBS productions, as well as commercials.  

George Black (1982--1984) Appeared at Wayside both as an actor and director. He is the Director of the Theatre program at the University of Virginia.

Caleb Blackwell (2012/2013)

Sarah Blackwell (2000, 2002, 2003, 2006--2010) A graduate of Radford University, she began work at Wayside career as an Administrative Assistant. She aappeared on Wayside’s stage and at the Way Off-Broadway theatre in Frederick, MD, and was very active with Wayside’s YPW.  

Robert J. Blaney (1997) Has appeared at the Lincoln Center Institute, The Present Company, Mt. Holyoke Players and many regional venues.

Hal Blankenship (1996) A graduate of Ferrum College and the American University in DC, he has appeared in a variety of shows from King Lear to Annie Get Your Gun, in day-time TV including Kojak and The Equalizer.  

Peter Blaxill (1978) Has appeared in regional theatres playing a variety of roles ranging from Shakespeare to Beckett.  On Broadway, he appeared in Tennessee Williams’ Eccentricities of a Nightingale and off-Broadway in Scuba Duba. He toured nationally with Sweet Charity and 1776.

Chris Blisset (2011) A New York actor, musician, musical director who has toured the country in various productions and can be seen on You-tube doing standup comedy.  He served as fight coordinator for Southern Crossroads.

Andrew C. Boothby (1989) Debuted at Wayside in 1989, but was a familiar face to the region from his performances at Shenandoah Conservatory and Shenandoah Summer Music Theatre.  He has been connected with Theatre IV in Richmond, VA.  

Emma Bott (2009) Participated in Wayside’s YPW program.

Peter Boyer (2005, 2008, 2011, 2012) A DC actor who performed at Metro Stage, Shakespeare Theatre, Ford’s Theatre, the Baltimore Shakespeare Festival and Tecumesh!, as well as other theatres across the country.    

Peter Boyle (1963) A graduate of LaSalle College in Philadelphia, has performed in several off-Broadway productions and done stock work at Quadio Playhouse in Connecticut.  He studied acting with Elaine May and Charles Nelson Reilly.

Jim Boylan (1976)

Stephen C. Bradbury (1975) Has a theatrical background covering a wide variety of plays and styles from the classics, to the absurd, to contemporary comedies.  Favorites include Iago in Othello and Algernon in The importance of Being Earnest. 

Leslie Bradley (2009) A graduate of James Madison University where she appeared in many productions as well as with the Performing Arts of Luray.  

Robert “Bob” Branch (1999, 2001) Performed a few seasons at The New Jersey Shakespeare Festival, as well as The Rep Stage, The Riverside Shakespeare Company in NYC and The Source in DC.  

Kimberly Braun (2012) Studied at Gustav Adolphus in Minnesota, and performed at Alaska Cabin Nite, St. Croix Festival Theatre, and Theatre Artists United.

Kara Britz (1998) Has performed in all four Winchester School System’s School-wide musicals. She also played drums in the ‘pit’ for SSMT productions.

Pamela Ritchard Brown (1989) Performed in the Washington area in the early fifties with the fledgling Arena Stage and later appeared in most of the theatres in the DC area.  She also performs with the senior tap group, 60 Karats.

Sam Brown (2008) A graduate of the University of Central Florida, and spent a season as Lead Entertainer on the Columbia Queen Riverboard out of Portland, OR.

Melvin Bruce (1973) Began acting at the Back Alley Theatre in DC and has appeared at Arena Stage and the Hayloft Dinner Theatre.

Jason Bruffy (2000) A graduate from Radford University where he performed many productions.  He spent a year at Wayside and later formed his own theatre company in Ohio.  

Stephen Brumble (1998) A Boston Conservatory graduate who resides in NYC.  His favorite roles include Bobby in American Buffalo and Albert in Bye, Bye Birdie.

Gil Bryan (1975)

Patrick Bryan (1971) A resident of Middletown.

Abby Buchholz (2011) A student at Frederick County Middle School who studies guitar at Shenandoah Conservatory Arts Academy.  Her grandfather is veteran actor, Loring Stevenson.

Christa Buck (1999) A Chicago actress who has performed in Two Gentlemen of Verona (Julia) and in Sound of Music (Maria).

Norman Budd (1971)

Carrie Buddin (1995) A recent graduate of Shenandoah Conservatory where she appeared in Shenandoah Sumer Music Theatre for three summers.  

David Buffam (1990) Originally from Oregon, he studied with the Michael Howard studio in New York.  He has appeared on Soaps, over 30 TV commercials, in print work and has performed in Atlantic City and at the Carousel Dinner Theatre.

James Bunzli (1991) A graduate of Kalamazoo College with an MFA from the University of Texas, he has worked in Idaho, Texas, and Michigan as well as Mill Mountain Theatre in Roanoke.  

Leigh Burch (1978) Studied with Uta Hagen and appeared off-Broadway, in national theaters, children’s theatres, film and TV.  Burch Is also a drama critic for West Virginia’s WAGE radio and is listed as being from Middleburg in one source.

Michael Burg (1992) Came to Wayside directly from Stages Repertory Theatre in Houston, TX. He also appeared at Arena Stage and the Williamstown Theatre Festival.  His film credits include Local Color and Imposters.

Traber Burns (also: Jacob Traber Burns) (1971, 1995) A graduate of the American Conservatory Theatre’s Advanced Training Program and his appearance at Wayside in 1971 was his first professional employment.  He has performed with the Hippodrome Theatre in Gainesville, FL; the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and the New Arts Theatre in Dallas.   

Robert Burns (also Bob Burns) (1986) A student from West Virginia University where he appeared in several school productions.  In addition to acting at Wayside, he also served as stage manager for one production.

Bob Butcher (2004) Has appeared in over 30 stage roles and directed 23 productions.  He served on the University theatre faculty in Oklahoma and Florida.  He currently lives in Winchester and works in Real Estate.  

Jeremy Butterfield (1989-1992, 1994-1996) First appeared as Tiny Tim in Wayside’s A Christmas Carol and later appeared in productions at his school as well as in children’s theatrical workshops at the Apollo Theatre.  He enjoys sports, playing the piano, drums, and Saxophone.  

Sarah Buxton (1981) Director of Deathtrap, a native of Virginia and Artistic Director of the Virginia Regional Theatre Corp. who has worked as an actress, director, and acting coach.

Erin Cahill (1996) A junior at Brooke Point High School, she has appeared in numerous local and high school productions, as well as movies and commercials.   

Lauren Cahill (1996) Began her career as a catalog model, has appeared in many stage productions as well as being a principal in a TV pilot, The Visit.  

Barbara Calander (2008) For a decade has toured with historical programs about women’s history, and has performed at DC’s Studio Theatre.

Kacey Camp (1990)

Jamie Campbell (2005) A recent graduate from Northeastern State University in Oklahoma where he acted in mainstage productions, and appeared with the Oklahoma Shakespeare Festival.

Jeremy Caplin (also Jeremy O. Caplin) (1981, 1983, 1986) Performed at Swift Creek Playhouse and also at the Haymarket Dinner Theatre, the Virginia Shakespeare Festival, and Heritage Repertory Company.

Stephen Carpenter (2005) A Washington DC actor/director/voice-over artist, who appeared in numerous shows at Stage Guild, Mill Mountain Theatre, Folger Theatre, and Theatre J. He was nominated for several Helen Hayes Awards, and serves as a book narrator for the National Library Service.

Alois Caspar (1965, 1966) The son of Jane Casper and who appeared in Wayside children’s productions.

Jane Casper (1964--1967) A resident of Boyce, VA and created stunning sets.  She also appeared in several productions during the Slavet years.

Caleb Caudil (2008, 2009) A senior at John Handley High School who enjoys acting, singing, attending theatrical productions, and hanging out with friends.

B. J. Checket (1995) A Shenandoah Conservatory graduate who appeared in leading roles for four seasons in Shenandoah Summer Music Theatre.  He also worked at Mill Mountain Theatre.

David Cheaney (1993) A resident company member of the Jean Cocteau Repertory Theatre and has appeared at the Utah Shakespearean Festival in a variety of roles.  

Jonathan Chezick (1991, 1995) Played Tiny Tim at age six in the 1991 production of A Christmas Carol and progressed to Turkey Boy and Boy-Scrooge in 1995He attended the Winchester Montessori School, plays soccer, and studies dance at the Vostrikov Academy of Ballet.

Tracey Copeland (1999, 2000, 2004, 2011) holds the MFA from NYC’s Tisch School of the Arts and is professor at the University of New Mexico.  She has performed on Broadway in Seven Guitars and at the Denver Center, the Alliance Theatre, and the New York Shakespeare Festival.

David Covington (2003) A graduate of American University and has appeared Signature Theatre, Ford’s Theatre, Theatre on the Hill and many others.  He is a tap dancer and appeared at Dance Unlimited and Dance Place.   He is the manager of the Folger Consort.  

Esther Covington (2010) A DC actress who has performed at Imagination Stage, Toby’s Dinner Theatre, American Century Theatre and others, performed in the national tour of The Garden, and participated in Robert Redford’s Sundance Institute.  

Mimi Cozzens (1964) Holds the BA in drama and speech and has extensive experience with the State Theatre of North Carolina and the Summers Playhouse in Connecticut.  She appeared on Broadway in The Women and has worked extensive in TV with appearances in The Doctors, Lamp Unto My Feet, and worked in film, Act One, The Hustlers, and Life of Red Eagles.   

Carly Cramer (2008, 2009) A student at James Wood High School and has appeared in several Wayside productions for youth.  

Emily Crawford (2006, 2008--2010) Attended Warren County Middle School and Skyline High School, and has participated in YPW. She enjoys jazz and tap dancing.

Tandy Cronyn (1974) Trained at London’s Central School of Speech and Drama and made her Broadway debut in 1969 as Sally Bowles in Cabaret.  She did a season of repertory in England, worked in Minnesota, as well as New York’s Lincoln Center.  She performed in two nation-wide tours.

Andrew Crowe (2010, 2011) Has appeared at New York’s Shakespeare In the Park, national tours of Sweeney Todd, and Cabaret, and regional productions of Pump Boys & Dinettes.  He is a singer/songwriter/fiddle player.

Joseph Culliton (1997) Has appeared on Broadway in Broadway and in New York City Opera’s South Pacific.  He has performed at The Shakespeare Theatre, Kennedy Center, The Guthrie, The Great Lakes Theatre Festival, the Alabama Shakespeare Festival, in addition to performing various roles on television.

Ray DeMattis (1972) A graduate in Drama from Catholic University, he came to Wayside directly from playing Motel in a national tour of Fiddler on the Roof that starred Zero Mostel.  He wrote and performed a work for the U.S State Department that toured Central America and Mexico and was a member of the resident company of the Long Wharf Theatre in New Haven, CT.

Kathryn Dixon (1996) Originally from the San Francisco Bay area, she lives in New York and has appeared in DC’s Studio Theatre and the Shadowland Theatre in the Catskills.  She trained at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in London.  

Rebecca Dobson (f1975) From the western part of the US, she lives in New York as a wife, mother, actress, woman.  She has appeared off-Broadway, in TV, in dramas, and in commercials.  One of her favorite roles in Blanche in Streetcar Named Desire.  

Porcha Dodson (also Porcha Lynn Dodson) (2002) A Shenandoah graduate in Arts Management who participated in opera as well as Shenandoah Summer Music Theatre productions.

John Doherty (1992) A local resident who retired from the Foreign Service in 1979.  He appeared with Winchester Little Theatre and in commercials.

Dennis Donald (2012) Performed at Cumberland County Playhouse in various roles and is the co-founder of D Squared Productions where he produced, directed and performed over 50 shows.   

Joe Donohue (also listed as Joseph Michael Donohoe) (2002) A native of Denver and a theatre major at Shenandoah as well as a member of the Shenandoah Summer Music Theatre company, he has performed at Six Flags Over Denver’s Broadway Rhythm.

Toni Dorfman (1977, 1978) After appearing in various repertory roles, she made her summer stock debut at Wayside.  In 1975, she and Edward Berkeley, founded the repertory theatre, Shade Company, in New York.

Nina Dova (1972, 1974) A versatile performer who is at home in the theatre, the concert stage, and on the BBC, Canadian and US television.  She has many New York credits including performances with the Lincoln Center Repertory Theater and has recorded an album for 20th Century Fox records.  

John Dow (2004, 2009) A DC actor who has performed at Woolly Mammoth Theatre, Arena Stage, Everyman Theatre and many others in a variety of roles. He was nominated for a Helen Hayes Award.  

Valerie Dowd (1995) Has made national tours with Singing in the Rain and Fiddler on the Roof.  Recently, she has been performing with Doc Scantlin and his Imperial Palms Orchestra.

Gillian Doyle (1986, 1988) A DC resident who has appeared at the Folger Theatre, Arena Stage, and the Source Theatre.  She can be seen in the movie, Life after Life.  

Cara Duff (MacCormick) (1972) Was nominated for a Tony award for her performance as Shelly in Moonchildren at Arena Stage and, prior to that, at the Royal Court Theatre in London.  She performed off-Broadway at the Cherry Lane, Stage 73, and Lincoln Center as well toured with Noel Harrison in The Mousetrap.

Craig Dudley (1992) Has worked extensively in regional theatre, including the Stratford Festival in Canada and the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, the Clarion Shakespeare Festival, the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles, and in the Off-Broadway Theatre in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

Ilona Dulaski (1965, 1966 2000--2004, 2011) Trained at the University of Mary Washington in Massachusetts and at Catholic University.  After appearing at Wayside’s 1965 season, she returned for the 2000 season and appeared in many productions in the following years. She had a wide range of experience from classic theatre to contemporary plays with performances at The Kennedy Center, Signature heater, Round House Theatre, Studio Theatre, and Shenandoah Summer Music Theatre.

David Elliott (1978, 1979) A resident of Winchester who appeared with the Winchester Little Theatre.  He studied at Morley Drama College in London and the Maryland Academy of Dramatic Arts.

Kim Franklin (1988, 1990, 1991) A student at The American Musical and Dramatic Academy in NYC who worked at Wayside for four seasons as a carpenter and wardrobe/properties mistress.

Donna Freeburn (1999) An actress who performed widely in Chicago and well as an adjunct faculty member in the theatre departments of three different colleges.

Alan Furlan (1989, 1992) For 28 years he was Managing/Artistic Director of the Sunset Playhouse in Wisconsin.  Before going to Sunset, he worked in NYC making his Broadway debut in 1951.  During a three-year residence in Italy, he acted in Italian films.

Allison Fusco (1998) Appeared in Christmas Carol, attends J. F. Hillyard Middle School in Broadway, VA, and sings in the Shenandoah Valley Children’s Choir.

Johanna Gerry (1994, 1995, 1996) Holds the BA in Theatre from Catholic University, has appeared at the Burn Brae Dinner Theatre, the Washington Jewish Theatre, and Signature Theatre, as well as the acclaimed revival of Candide at Arena Stage.  She trained extensively in dance with Boston Ballet and American Dance Machine,

Steve Gibbons (1997) Appeared in the films, Romeo and Juliet and The Incorporated and has studied in Moscow, London, and with Uta Hagen.  He is a member of the sketch comedy group, Urban Side Effects.

Kathleen Goldpaugh (1995, 1996, 1997) She has worked at the Ohio Theatre, UBU Rep and at New York’s Gallery Players, Arena Stage, Kennedy Center, and the Round House Theatre of Connecticut.  She has played the role of numerous nurses in various TV soaps.  

Margaret Goodman (1989) Worked as an actress/singer in New York for 25 years and appeared in theatre, television, films, commercials, children’s theater and magazine ads. As a singer, she has performed with the New York City operas, at Lincoln Center, and on the PBS telecast of The Ballad of Baby Doe.  

Michael Goodwin (1994) Brought a wide range of experience to Wayside.  He has performed at the Heritage Theatre Festival and two seasons with Heritage Theatre.  He appeared on Broadway in the musical version of Cyrano and A Patriot for Me along with numerous film and TV credits.

Tony Gudell (2002--2004) A DC actor who has performed at the Olney Theatre, Stage Guild, Source Theatre, Studio Theatre among others.  He appeared in the Discovery Channel series, Exploring the Senses, and has recorded numerous radio commercials.

Lindé Hayen (1965, 1966, 1967, 1973, 1976) Hayen brought a wide range of experience when she came to Wayside, ranging from performances at the San Juan Drama Festival, North Jersey Playhouse, Old Globe Theatre, San Diego.  Among the actors she worked with are Farley Granger, and Paulette Goddard.  Hayen married Hal Herman and together they created the theatre department at Shenandoah University.  She also worked for many years with Wayside’s children’s theatre programs.

Todd Hayen (1966, 1967) Son of Lindé Hayen who appeared in a few Wayside roles.  He currently lives in Aurora, Ontario and works as Psychotherapist.  Previously, he worked in the film industry as a composer, orchestrator, and conductor.

Michael Johnson (1996) A Washington actor who has performed at the Source theatre, Studio Theatre, Metro Stage, and West End Dinner Theatre.  He has done film and video including NBC’s Homicide, along with many local commercials.

Rebecca Johnson 2001) Participated in the Christmas show

Sarah Johnson (2002, 2005, 2006) A student at Powhatan School, she has participated in Wayside’s YPW since 2000 and appeared in Wayside’s Christmas show.

Tamara Johnson (1986-–1999) First appeared at Wayside as stage Manager and Costume Designer for Season’s Greetings.  While living in Dallas, she designed costumes for many productions and appeared on stage, winning Best Actress of the Year for 1986.  She was instrumental in developing the Centerstage Saturday Workshop Program.  She appeared regularly in Wayside productions along with industrials and doing voice over work.  She is married to former Artistic Director, Christopher Owens.

Vera Johnson (1992) Has performed with Trinity Square Repertory Theatre, the Hartman Theatre, and Stage West.  

Darrell Johnston (2012) A graduate of Graceland University, Lamont, IA, Johnston has performed across the country as well as in Alaska. He is the founder of Highway Walkers Media and starred in the film The Highway Walkers, a documentary about a hitchhiking trip from Iowa to Oregon.

David Johnston (1990--1994) A graduate of William & Mary, the professional workshop at The Circle in the Square theatre in New York, and the Alden Theatre.  He has appeared in several regional theatres.  

Will Johnston (also William Johnston) (2003) A graduate of Centre College in Kentucky who served as a production intern at Wayside for the season.  

Elizabeth Claire Jones (1981) Native of Atlanta and a recent graduate of Auburn University, she appeared in the film Norma Rae with Sally Fields.  At Wayside she performed in the Curtain Call during the 1980 season,

Glyn Jones (1985) Originally from Durbin, South Africa, he spent most of his life in England and worked with the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts.  He is the author of many plays, has worked as script editor for The Double Decker, and as guest artist at James Madison University.  At Wayside, he acted as well as directed productions.   

Nielson Jones (1999) From Albany, New York where he is the on the management staff of The Egg theatre.  He holds the BA in theatre from Jacksonville State University where he performed in many of the school’s productions.

Heath Kelts (1996) Holds a BFA from Florida Atlantic University and the MFA from the University of Washington. He has worked regionally at The Intiman Theatre, the Drama Center, and toured Argentina in Romeo and Juliet.

Molly Knudsen (2008, 2009) A student at Sherando High School and a member of Wayside’s Young Ambassador’s Guild.  She plays several instruments and is the author of two plays that were performed by Wayside’s youth ensemble.

Eva Kolig (2003) Recent performances include Signature Theatre, Arena Stage, and the DisneySea production in Tokyo, Japan.  She was a member of the Touring Young Americans of Washington for 5 years.

Jeanne Larrison (1987, 1989) A graduate of Simpson College in Iowa, she completed her Professional Actor Training at Broadway’s Circle-in-the-Square Theatre.  She has performed in 34 of the 50 states with eight stock seasons and three national tours.  She toured for ten months in France with La Compagne Nuances.   

James Laster (1996, 1998--2010) Professor at Shenandoah Conservatory where he conducted musical theatre productions and appeared on stage in Shenandoah Summer Music Theatre.

Sue Lawless (1972, 1973, 1974) A versatile actress and writer, Lawless is “recognized by millions of viewers of such programs as ‘The Tonight Show,’ ‘The David Frost Show,’ and the ‘Merv Griffin Show.’ She is half of the popular comedy team, ‘Sue and Pugh.’ “  She also wrote and acted at the Washington Theatre Club, and directed the long-running revue, Bottoms Up, in Las Vegas.

Patrick Lawlor (1988, 1990, 1991) A graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Professional Theatre Training Program, he has appeared in stock productions and in Shakespeare Festivals in Utah, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Wisconsin, and Berkeley.  In 1990, he toured with Wayside’s WTOT.

Marian Lewis (1969) A Winchester resident with wide and varied interests. She is best known for her work at Bark Mill and for creating the Marian Park Lewis Foundation which funds local Arts  

Marjorie Lewis (1970, 1973, 1991) A Winchester resident, Lewis appeared as both actress and assistant director for various Wayside productions.  Her greatest contribution to Wayside was her work with Beau Geste.

Mark Lewis (1989) Came to Wayside on leave from the long-running New York production of Tamara and returned to the production when he completed his Wayside contract.  He has worked at Hartford Stage, Huntington Theatre in Boston, Shakespeare Theatre of Dallas, Merrimack Repertory Theatre and others.  

Martha Libman (1995, 1996) A recent graduate of the Tisch School of the Arts, she worked as an understudy for Wayside roles and worked as Assistant Stage Manager.

Garrett Elise Long (1990) A senior at Shenandoah Conservatory where she appeared in The Mystery of Edwin Drood, and did two summers at Shenandoah Summer Music Theatre.  She made her Wayside debut during this season and later appeared on Broadway.

Dustin Loomis (2008, 2009) A graduate of the National Conservatory of Dramatic Arts in DC and has performed at Totem Pole Playhouse, the Everyman Theatre, and the Cumberland Theatre.

Wilderness.  Lynch is a graduate of Loras College in Iowa and did graduate work in drama at Catholic University.

David McEllen (2000) A recent graduate of James Wood High School where he performed in several school productions.  He also appeared with the Virginia Youth Ballet in The Nutcracker and other titles.

Jill Macy (1995, 1996) A native of California, she has performed Deborah in A Kind of Alaska, Cleo in Black Comedy, and at the Theatre of West Virginia’s 1,300 seat Amphitheatre.  

John Madden (1964) A graduate of University of Kansas and Rockhurst College who studied with a variety of NYC teachers.  At Wayside, he served as both an actor and production assistant.

Kenneth McMillan (1973) Came to Wayside following a ten-week run of The Odd Couple at Tiffany’s Attic in Kansas City, MO.  He has done national tours, including Last of the Red Hot Lovers.  On Broadway he appeared in Borstal Boy; and performed in theatres throughout the country and on TV.

Lisa McMillan (1979) A 1977 graduate of the Juilliard School (Drama), she has spent two seasons with the Utah Shakespeare Festival.

Stephen Pearlman (1974) Broadway credits include La Strada and the Innkeeper in Man of La Mancha.  He worked extensively in regional theatres as well as sung the role of Sparafucile in Rigoletto.  Pearman graduated from Dartmouth and studied acting with Stella Adler.

Richard Pelzman (2002) brings a wide background to Wayside with appearances in many DC theatres (Arena, Signature Theatre, Kennedy Center, Le Neo) and regional theatres.  He has appeared in TV on Homicide, America’s Most Wanted and others.  He is a graduate of Boston University and Catholic University.  

Pam Pendleton (2005--2007, 2011--2013) has served as President/producer of the Addison Center Theatre and has performed at the Callier Theatre of the Deaf.  She has many Sanders Family performances to her credit.

Marni Penning (2000) is a graduate of James Madison University and spent three years touring with the Shenandoah Shakespeare Express.  She is founding member of Cincinnati Shakespeare Festival where she has performed in 33 productions there.

Steven Perlmutter (1989) has performed at the Summerfest Theatre in NJ, the New York Renaissance Festival, and the Kind Richard’s Faire in Wisconsin.  He has also performed in commercials, and made his professional debut at the age of nine months as an Ivory baby.

Donald Plumley (1963) a graduate of Pepperdine College who appeared in several off-Broadway productions. He worked at New York’s Shakespearean Festival and had done some film work.

Jack Poggi (1995) a well-known acting coach and author of The Monologue Workshop, he has performed over 100 roles in a variety of theatres ranging from Provincetown Playhouse to Huntington Theatre Company in Boston, and the Mt. Gretna Playhouse in Pennsylvania.  

April Poland (1998) prior to Wayside, she had worked primarily in Richmond and toured with Theatre IV. She has served as a drama teacher at Liberty High School.

Daniel Pollack (1989) appeared on Broadway in The Price and with national companies of The Tenth Man.  He acted at Arena Stage in DC and the Whole Theatre Company in New Jersey.  He holds the Ph.D. in theatre and cinema from New York University and teaches career guidance seminars to professional actors in New York City.

Walter Rhodes (1978) Has performed over 100 leading roles with companies such as Long Wharf, Hartford Stage, Baltimore Center Stage, McCarter Theatre and others.  He has worked Off-Broadway, in dinner theatres, and made several national tours

Nick Stannard (1975, 1991--1993) A graduate of Carnegie Mellon University who, following graduation, toured for seven months in Charlie Brown and a five-month tour of Hello, Dolly.  He also has several off-Broadway credits, including Dracula. For nine years he was a member of the Flat Rock Playhouse in North Carolina.

Edward Steele; Crittle Lacy Steele, Crittle Lacy-Steele) (1979, 1980--1986) Served at Wayside as Artistic Director for seven years where he produced over 60 plays, and directed 25 productions, appeared on stage, and in his one-man shows.  He served as Development Director for the Lord Fairfax Educational Foundation and had his own PR firm, Steele and Spelvin, Inc.  In addition, Steele served two terms as president of the Virginia Theatre Conference and for three years as the Northern Regional Panelist for the Virginia Commission for the Arts.

Jeff Stern (1978, 1983) A Winchester native who was active in Handley High School and at Winchester Little Theatre productions.  He served as the manager of the Franklin Park Performing & Visual Arts Center in Loudoun County and received awards for his work on and off stage in locations ranging from Los Angeles to DC.  He served as Wayside’s Business Manager.

Allan Stevens (1979) S NYC actor with regional credits at Actors’ Theatre in Louisville, Goodspeed Opera House, and studied at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts.  He appeared on Broadway in Shenandoah and in The Kings.

Shane Stevens (1994) Graduated from the Goodman Theatre School in Chicago in 1991 where he has performed at the Bailwick, the Organic, and the Immediate Theatres.

Loring Stevenson (2002, 2004) A native of Chicago and a former public relations executive who had an active career in theatre before entering the business world.  He appeared in Stage West, Circle Theatre, and Theatre Three in the Ft. Worth-Dallas area and lists TV commercials, training videos, and student films in his resume.  

Nathan Stith (1998) A New York actor who grew up in Fairfax, VA where he appeared in numerous productions in the area.  He was on the National Tour of Romeo and Juliet.  

Jenny Stodd (2010) A resident of NYC and a graduate of St. Ambrose University, she has appeared in a variety of roles including appearance at the El Dorado Casino in Reno.  

Peter Stoll (1997) A student from Long Island University who worked with the New York State Theatre Institute.

Anne Stone (1968) An apprentice who worked with props and in the costume shop during that season.

Sarah Story (2008) A graduate of Capital University Conservatory, Columbus, OH, she performed in regional theatres as well as being an Actor Interpreter for Colonial Williamsburg.  

Frank Strait (or Ralph Strait) (1972) Has over ten years of professional acting experience ranging from off-Broadway to national tours, summer stock, and Television

Morris Strassberg (1970) A character actor of stage, screen and TV who appeared on the show, The Law and Mr. Jones and in the movie Klute with Jane Fonda.  

Jim Stubbs (1988)

Marcie Stringer (1976) Began her theatrical career at age seven dancing in Pittsburgh with her cousin, Gene Kelly.  She appeared in the Broadway production of Follies.  Between stage engagements, she teaches tap in NYC.  

Kathryn Strock (2004, 2005) A graduate of Shenandoah Conservatory and appeared in several Shenandoah Summer Music Theatre productions.  She has performed at the Cabin Nite Dinner Theatre in Denali National Park, Alaska and the Alaskan Shakespeare Festival.

David Sucharski (2009) A graduate of Central Florida Conservatory, where he appeared in many productions.  He spent one summer performing with the Greenbrier Valley Theatre.

Mary Suib (2000) Has worked in many regional theatres including Arkansas Repertory, and has appeared in film and television.  

Ian Sullivan (1963, 1964) Appeared in Wayside’s 1963 season.  A graduate of Boston University, he made his NYC debut in Equity Liberty Theatre’s, J.B.   He has been the resident actor at the Hampton Playhouse, the Weston, Vermont Playhouse and the Bar Harbor Theatre in Maine.  In Boston, he appeared in many TV productions and performed with the Shakespeare Repertory Company.

Jeremiah Sullivan (1975) Has toured widely with his one-man autobiography of Edgar Allan Poe called Poe Alone, and as performed in 23 Shakespeare productions throughout the country. He taught “An Approach to Classical Acting” at Harvard, his alma mater, and writes a column, “The Stars’ Stars,” an astrological consultation for many famous people.

Laurie Sullivan (1995) A graduate of the State University of New York, Fredonia, who began her professional internship at Wayside.

Barbara Swink (1995) Was the Director of Public Relations and General Manager of Wayside Theatre for eight years.  She was very active at Winchester Little Theatre as director, designer, board member, and actor.

Willy Switkes (1971) Born in DC, Switkes resided in NYC for most of his life and enjoyed a long career on Broadway.

Susan Tabor (1998) Has appeared in both Broadway and in Off-Broadway productions.  She has worked at Roundabout Theatre, the Equity Library Theatre, has made several national tours, and appeared in TV commercials.

Adam Tackett (2001) Appeared in Shenandoah Conservatory’s productions of 42nd Street and Children of Eden.  

Sharon Talbot (1976) Resides in NY and started her Broadway career as a stand-in for Anita Gillette in Don’t Drink the Water.  She later appeared on Broadway in Musical Jubilee.

Glenn Taylor (1974) Taylor’s extensive credits include the Arena Theatre’s tour of the Soviet Union, his work at the Pasadena Playhouse and the Laguna Playhouse, and his appearance in many TV shows as well as being a regular on the Ozzie and Harriet Show.  He also spent many years in radio as a staff announcer at WJEJ in Hagerstown, MD and WSVA in Harrisonburg, VA.

Joseph Travers (1988) Has appeared in a variety of productions in the New York area, including the Jewish Repertory Theatre and the Quaigh Theatre.  He is a member of Stunt Works, a New York based stage combat/choreography group; and is the founder of the Actor’s Gymnasium, an ensemble workshop geared toward sharpening an actor’s skills.

Kendra Tucker (1988) An Atlanta native who lives in the DC area where she pursues a career in film, television, and stage.  She toured the Caribbean in a musical revue on an NCL cruise ship.

Megan Tusing (2002) A senior at East Hardy High School where she performed in many school productions.  She has performed with the Blackfriar’s Playhouse Young Theatre Camp and in the independent film, The Lights.  

Dawn Tuttle (1991) Holds the MFA from the University of Virginia.  In New York, she has been involved with commercials, industrials but prefers working with the 5 Men/5 Women Acting Company.  

Chris Tyer (2004) A native of New Orleans and a graduate of Mississippi State University with a degree in Communication, he enjoys directing theatre productions.

Kenneth Umland (1987, 1988, 1989) Came to Wayside from Detroit where he received the 1987 Theatre Excellence Award from the Detroit Free Press.  He has worked in films in his native Canada and is possibly the voice you heard on Air Canada flights wishing passengers a pleasant flight.

Craig Vandenburg (1963) A graduate of Florida Southern College who has performed at the Westbury Music Fair and worked extensively in TV in Florida.

Thom Van Ermen (1999) A Chicago actor with many Shakespeare credits on his resume, along with work in industrials and independent films.  

Troy Chandler Van Meter (2010) Participated in Wayside’s YPW and YPW Musical Theatre classes. He has a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and has a goal creating a shelter for animals.  

Liza Vann (2006, 2007, 2010) Has performed on Broadway and Off-Broadway and in regional theatre.  She is the recipient of the Clarence Ross Fellowship from the American Theatre Wing.

Glenys Vargas (1995, 1996) First appeared onstage as Eve in The Apple Tree and has appeared in Off-Broadway productions.  She appeared in the HBO special, The Ball.

Ian Williams (1996) A Clarke County lawyer who had appeared at the Winchester Little Theatre and the Westmoreland Players in Montrose, VA.  He co-hosts the popular radio show, Suit-Cases.

R. Scott Williams (2006, 2009, 2011) A DC resident who performed with the Shakespeare Theatre, Theatre Alliance, Washington Stage Guild, with Kennedy Center’s Shear Madness, and has also appeared with Shenandoah Summer Music Theatre productions. 

Tod Williams (Also listed Tod S. Williams) (1987, 1988, 1991, 1995) A Frederick County native, Williams appeared in various performances of the Murder at the Inn mystery series.  A graduate of James Madison University, he is a Visual Merchandising Assistant at Leggett’s Department store in Winchester.

Nan Wilson (1971)

Halo Wines (1972 -- 1976) A versatile actress who is a member of the Arena Stage Company and was a member of the ensemble that toured the USSR presenting American drama.  She has appeared at Olney Theatre in Maryland, and toured for three years with the National Players in various leading roles. Wines also appeared with St. Albans Repertory Theatre where she taught acting and voice.

Margaret Winn (1978, 1979) Has been a part of the Loretto Hilton Repertory Company for four seasons and appeared off-Broadway at the Chelsea Theatre.  In DC, she appeared at the Washington Theatre Club, Arena Stage, and at Pennsylvania’s Totem Pole Playhouse.  

Maggie Winn-Jones (1988) Has appeared in a variety of theatres including the St. Louis Rep., Stage West in Springfield, MA, Studio Arena in Buffalo, NY, and the Folger Theatre in DC, and has also appeared in over 30 productions at Totem Pole Playhouse.  She is the wife of director and drama critic, Davey Marlin-Jones.

Gloria Zaglool (1976) Performed at Barter Theatre and made her Broadway debut in The Desert Song in 1974.  She has performed Off-Broadway and in various dinner theatres.  

Joe Zaloom (1968)

Michael Zimmer (1995) A graduate of Yale, he has performed Forever Plaid at the Downtown Cabaret Theatre in Bridgeport, CT; toured with Troika Organization and Theatreworks USA; and performed summer stints in various New England barns, playhouses, and auditoriums.  

Jackie Zito (2010) A graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Music with a masters from LSU and was a member of the Tri-Cities Opera, Binghamton, NY before moving to Winchester.  She has appeared with the Charlotte City Club, Bay View Music Festival, Capitol Theatre among others, and is the co-owner of Contemporary Vocal Studio where she teaches a variety of vocal styles.  

Nancy Zola (1974) Has extensive New York and summer stock credits, along with appearances in the day-time serial, Love of Life.  She has done commercials, voice overs, dubbing for television, and some film work.

Jerry Zoochi (1982) An intern from Kentucky who worked backstage and appeared in two of Wayside’s production for that season.

Doug Zschiegner (1994) Attended the Professional Theatre Training Program at the University of Delaware and spent four summers performing Shakespeare at the American Players Theatre in Wisconsin, and the Utah Shakespearean Festival.  He had also performed at Mill Mountain Theatre in Virginia.
